What is it?

Well, it is one of my oldest experiments with community building.

In November 2009, WordPress was starting to gain traction, becoming the engine of choice for more and more of the web. The number of sites only grew and with them the community of users, developers, administrators as well as theme and plugin builders.

The volume of content that could be found on the web was only expanding, wordpress’s guidelines were very comprehensive and covered a large number of topics in easy-to-follow documentation.

Everything went fine, except for one thing. There was also an increasing number of Spanish-speaking developers and users that were interested in:

The way I found to make some of this happen was by creating a LinkedIn group. https://www.linkedin.com/groups/1242577/

In the beginning, there was not much traction, but today, more than 13 years later, it reached over 9000 members from different countries and regions who collaborate and add their postings on a daily basis. Not only that but, during the last year alone, it grew 10%, going from 9000 members in March 2022 to wrapping the year with 9884 members.

Also in 2022, it got recognized by the LinkedIn Inner Circle Program as one of the most engaging groups on LinkedIn.

As of this day, WordPress en Español is over 10.000 Members. Santiago Alvarado is member number 10.000. This feels like a huge milestone.
